Can you believe
August is almost over?
I can't.
It boggles my mind, frankly.
At this time of year,
my skin always feels
a bit tender
as my heart breaks
for the summer that is passing
(and all the ones that have passed before,
remembered golden)
but I,
almost traitorously,
feel the first hints of excitement
for the new season
(possibly my favorite one)
that begins
(just barely begins!)
to enter the scene.

Some forgotten medium-format film
found and developed:
turns out the rolls are almost exactly
one year old.
A glimpse into
this time
last year.
Perfect timing.

A new video
that made my day(/week):
Bon Iver - Holocene

This week on Folkloric
is going to be Mt. Rainier week.
The mountain is mercurial,
different each time we visit,
continually inspiring.
I brought rolls and rolls of film
and did not try to hold myself back.

Over the weekend
I took a jam making + canning class
from the lovely owner of Deluxe Foods
at The Pantry at Delancey.
I love what The Pantry is doing,
and I only wish I had signed up
for more classes with them this summer,
as so many are sold out now.
If you are in the Seattle area,
I highly recommend
checking them out
(Rebecca is teaching
another jam class
in October!).

I've been so busy
that I am just now
getting a chance
to post these photos
from another weekend passed
on the other side of the mountains.
Their summery peacefulness
and sun-warmed sense of ease
is a balm for me
during these hectic days
even though the visit
feels like
something
that I dreamed.
