When I was younger,
I believed that tulips
were boring flowers.
In retrospect,
I don't know what I was thinking.
Tulips are amazing!
I am continuously delighted
by their
seemingly endless
range of colors
(there is a shade for everyone).
They can be striped,
or marbled
or delicately ombre,
with edges rounded,
spiked,
or ruffled.
Some are petite as a teacup,
others as large as a globe of wine.
Still others
hold surprises within
where veins of blue
or a burst of glowing white
contrast the color of their petals.
Tulips,
I am sorry I ever thought ill of you.

ReplyDeleteTulips are so pretty!
ReplyDelete@Daniella: Several! The valley up north of where I live holds a "Tulip Festival" each year because so many of the farms there are in bloom. The tulips go on for miles. :)
ReplyDeleteOne day I want to visit a tulip festival like this. Thank you for sharing such beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteI used to think tulips were awful, too. I used to think they were boring and uniform and uninteresting. Then my friend once gave me a bunch (they are her favourites) and all of a sudden I realised their beauty and now I can't get enough of them. I think they are so beautiful.
ReplyDeletethey have always been my favorite. :) these are so lovely!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny, I used to feel like tulips were harsh, I didn't like them either. Now though, I wait for them. Beautiful all those pinks together.
