I think I almost prefer
winter hikes
to summer hikes.
In wintertime
we are that much more thankful
for a rare shining sun,
and the range of purple
in the shadows of the landscape
seems to me
as beautiful
as summer blooms.

oh maggie these are so beautiful! we do not have such tall trees around here and every time i see pictures like these i find them magical! and yes, winter hikes are so beautiful... though i am starting to miss summer or spring days, i can relate to that completely! have a delightful day! twiggs

This must be Wallace Falls. I took an almost identical picture of the first one when we went there for a hike at Christmas.
