Ewa i Walla

I love the atmosphere of these photographs for Swedish designer Ewa i Walla's Spring/Summer collection (shot by Jonas Walla--any relation there?). The whole shoot is romanticised to the extreme, but darn it if it still doesn't make me want to run off to a cabin in the woods and dress in lovely, folk-inspired dresses all day. Now if I could just pull off such impressive Heidi braids--I don't know if there are enough bobby pins in the world to hold my thick hair up like that.

Maaike Mekking

Here is a Spring collection that I can really get behind. The white and the floral patterns are suitably light and fresh for the season, but the clean simplicity of the lines and the amount of predominantly black pieces keeps it from being too frilly, wispy, and overtly feminine (my main complaints with a lot of Spring fashion).
To me, this isn't just pretty eye-candy, lovely clothes and styling that I admire but can't really see myself in. I would wear all of this.

Colenimo

By posting about the Fall/Winter J. Crew collection last week I think I opened my floodgates to Fall fashion despite the fact that I'm trying to focus on Spring clothing right now. I'm impressed by the Autumn/Winter collection by Colenimo which is inspired by 1930's tap star Ruby Keller and the work of choreographer Busby Berkeley. Maybe it's just that I'm tired of looking at all the wispy blonde models that seem to be featured in everyone's Spring lookbooks, but I am liking the moody styling for this collection as much as the clothes.

Harvest Season

I've been trying to force myself to focus on Spring fashion (it's my least favorite season fashion-wise and I need some good ideas and inspiration) but oh man, J. Crew's Fall Ready-to-Wear Collection is making it really hard. I mean, look at it. Those jewel tones! Those textures! The classic-meets-rustic-meets-whimsical aesthetic! I am in love.

Cake Dresses

Let this one sink in: Marit Fujiwara created these pieces for her BA show in Textile Design from Chelsea College of Art and Design. Impressive work to begin with, the fact that it was done for her undergrad final show just blows my mind.

Tinctory

Absolutely gorgeous hand-dyed, hand-sewn jewelry by Eva available in her shop Tinctory. These pieces really embody the idea of wearable works of art. Her blog is also beautiful--I love being able to get an idea of the creative process behind her jewelry, especially since the art of dying fabric is something that I know absolutely nothing about.

Greenhouse Style

Some more lovely Spring inspiration, this time from an old issue of Vogue UK (2005, shot by Carter Smith). Wish I could pull off that movie-star hair, but I'll settle for some jewel-colored cardigans and skirts instead.

Keller

I'm not a big fan of spring clothes. Pastels aren't really my thing, and the floral prints that usually seem to dominate spring fashion aren't really my cup of tea either. But Keller's latest collection could definitely win me over to springtime adornment. So pretty, with just the right tough/quirky edge.

Sweden's Capital

Some recent loves from Stockholm Street Style. My favorite is the woman on the lower-right--that belt with its gold buckle is a perfect touch.

Gorgeous dresses from Elroy on super sale (70% off!). Since I wear almost exclusively black and dark blue (I used to force myself to branch out and buy brighter colors, but they just hung in my closet, completely unworn--now I've just accepted this fact) I'm especially attracted to these classy pieces. Plus, even though they're dark, all of them look like they'd transition nicely from winter into spring.

The Dolce Sale

Some awesome shoes at Dolce Vita (from rockstar flats to classy prairie boots) on an awesome sale. I already convinced a friend of mine to buy the Blast boots (Me: "You know you want them. And they look so good on you! Look at that price!" Her: "You are such a pusher."), and even though I'm not really in the market for new shoes right now, I might not be able to resist either.

Rainbow Stones

I know I shared some earthy inspired jewelry last week, but when I came across these necklaces from the awesomely named Unearthen, I had to post them too. Such gorgeous colors! Paired with a sleek black outfit, any of these pieces would look super dramatic and classy.

Pretty Agate necklaces from Stone & Honey--I think the purple one with the feather is my favorite, but it's a tough choice.

Unique "head accessories" (for lack of better words, since they're not really hats but are clearly more than just hair ties) by Lizzie McQuade, made from hand-dyed and vintage fabrics.

Gorgeous photos by Ultrathew of the Summer 20008 Sonia Rykiel runway show. With the rich golden figures emerging out of the shadowy black background, these images actually remind me, of all things, of some of Rembrandt's paintings!
