When I am walking
though a landscape
as powerful as this one,
I do not get tired.

We hiked for miles,
beside the river
and up into the hills;
as the ground rose
and the sunlight filtered down
I only felt
like I could go farther,
that each step
brought me energy
and renewal.

The coolest blue,
and the brightest green-gold--
we took a weekend trip away
to the place where we were married,
back to visit
for the first time
since our wedding.

Now that fireweed
in the third photo
is all burned up
(as I like to say)
to its white fluff.
I love how you can tell
how far along Summertime is,
by how far up the stalk
the fireweed has flamed.

A wonderful weekend spent
at a friend's cabin
up North,
in Canada.

It was quite chilly,
but felt like
a little taste,
a little hint,
of Summertime,
and other weekends away
to come.

I wanted to share
these photos
from a short trip we took
a few weeks ago
before we moved so far
into Autumn
that the season previous
feels like a dream
or something we just imagined.

It's one of my favorite homes away from home.
