I think the weather gods might have heard my wishes and taken note of my offerings; Seattle was rewarded with glorious golden sunshine this weekend that felt (and looked) sweeter than honey.

So I spent the past few days doing every summery thing I could think of. We got ice cream at Molly Moon's (Carrot Cake for me, Strawberry-Rhubarb for him), thrifting cloches to support my cupcake obsession, hunting sunlight and shadows on all of my plants and flowers like someone on safari, making bright, warm-weather necklaces, and drinking mojitos supplied by a friend who came over to enjoy burgers, potato salad, and farmers market fruit with us as we tested out our new grill (!!).

If there's something all people who live in the Pacific Northwest know it's that you need to take advantage of nice weather when it comes.

This weekend? I think we were successful with that.

Weekend Pairings - Balm(y)

-I found a set of three cast-iron skillets at the thrift store on Friday for 6 bucks. SCORE. I seasoned them all weekend, so I'm excited to try them out now. Anyone have any good cast-iron recipes?
-We wandered the farmers market in short sleeves and sandals (until my saltwaters from last summer snapped--I guess it's time to get a new pair, sigh) and threw open all our windows.
-Got some basil plants (regular and thai!) all newly potted, along with my spider bébés--here's hoping they are happy in their new home.
-Sunday was a day for fancy eatin'--sushi and gelato at lunchtime, steamed artichokes and wine and cheese for dinner! We felt quite classy, and only a little bit pretentious.
-Not to jump the gun or anything (but jumping the gun...): I am getting so excited for summer!

My love for the thrift store near our apartment has grown exponentially with each of my recent finds. I was pleased with the earthenware vase, I squealed over the teeny glass jars (perfect for holding all of my nature finds), and I'm completely in love with these gorgeous wooden bowls. I've found a use for one of them...what to do with the other three?
